Defending the Faith

Jude 3-4 reminds us:

"Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you concerning the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you and exhort you to earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints."

Jude calls us to stand firm in our faith, guarding against false teachings that distort the truth. As misleading doctrines spread, believers today must protect the foundation of faith given to us. This means embracing the scriptures as the first-century believers did honoring the teachings of our Master and staying true to the faith of the Apostles.

A Continuous Thread of Faith

Acts 2:42 states:

"They devoted themselves to the Apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer."

The early church understood the value of scripture and lived out its teachings. To truly grasp the message of the New Testament, we must interpret it in light of the Old Testament. The timeline of biblical events, the guiding principles, and the cultural context all play a vital role in shaping our understanding of God’s word.

Is the Torah for Everyone?

A key question we must explore is whether the Torah the teachings and laws given to Israel applies to both Jews and Gentiles today.
