Light From The Shadows

Welcome to our blogsite, where we explore the rich and interconnected story of the Bible. Imagine stepping into a vast library, filled with countless volumes of knowledge. Many approach the Bible as if it were two separate libraries one old, distant, and seemingly outdated, and the other new, relevant, and final. The Old Testament is often seen as a relic of the past, while the New Testament is considered the ultimate revelation. But what if the Bible is not a collection of disconnected books, but a single, unified story?

The Old Testament is not just a shadow of the New Testament it is the foundation upon which the gospel stands. Its history, prophecies, and moral teachings are essential for understanding the fullness of God’s plan. By viewing scripture as a continuous thread rather than a series of separate events, we can see how both Testaments work together to reveal the depth of God’s wisdom and faithfulness.

Defending the Faith

Jude 3-4 reminds us:

"Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you concerning the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you and exhort you to earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints."

Jude calls us to stand firm in our faith, guarding against false teachings that distort the truth. As misleading doctrines spread, believers today must protect the foundation of faith given to us. This means embracing the scriptures as the first-century believers did honoring the teachings of our Master and staying true to the faith of the Apostles.

A Continuous Thread of Faith

Acts 2:42 states:

"They devoted themselves to the Apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer."

The early church understood the value of scripture and lived out its teachings. To truly grasp the message of the New Testament, we must interpret it in light of the Old Testament. The timeline of biblical events, the guiding principles, and the cultural context all play a vital role in shaping our understanding of God’s word.

Is the Torah for Everyone?

A key question we must explore is whether the Torah the teachings and laws given to Israel applies to both Jews and Gentiles today. By tracing the roots of our faith from the covenantal promises made to Abraham through the unfolding narrative of scripture, we uncover a heritage that connects all believers.

This journey through the Bible will illuminate how the Old Testament brings light to our understanding of the New Testament. By embracing the whole of scripture, we preserve the unbroken tradition of faith that has guided God’s people throughout history.

Join me on this website as we rediscover the origins of our faith, our identity, and the continuous story of God’s people from the past to the present.
